Access needs to be arranged through following all processes in the specific Client situation. All layers of access need
to be monitored and logged per resource in the Access Tracker artifact.
Access can be a multi-layered monster to manage. In some cases access is purely a task of setting up the infrastructure
between the Client and Capgemini, in some cases it is purely an activity executed by the Client’s HR department.
The physical connection and connectivity at network level would be a typical subproject in the Technology And
Infrastructure work stream. Making sure the individual resources have the required user-ids and passwords,
authorization to access whatever systems and applications they need to access can be either a subproject in the Service
Engagement Staff work stream or in the Technology And Infrastructure work stream. The Service Engagement Staff work
stream is responsible for identifying all requirements and monitoring that access is indeed arranged for. Not being
able to arrange the necessary access in time might need setting up temporary solutions like working on the Client
premises, temporary hiring of resources of the Client, the incumbent(s) or a service related third party including
their facilities, etc.
All resources are required to test all layers of access as soon as each layer of access is granted and has to report
back to either the Service Engagement Staff work stream team or the specific subproject team whether it works or not.
In some cases access needs to be tested within a few, like max. three, days. This could mean that access granted on
Friday afternoon needs to be tested before Monday afternoon and if not tested the whole process has to be re-initiated
for that resource. This could even mean starting the whole access process again via the Client HR department.
Depending on how many layers of access are involved and how many resources need to receive access, this can be done
through an Access Tracker excel sheet or through creating a specific portal to log the status of access per resource.
Not having the right level of access in time can easily become a show stopper for Service Commencement.
